A 24-hour hackathon aiming to devise later life tech solutions that benefit the whole community.
The elderly are more socially alienated than they have ever been.
Technology and the emergence of increasingly intergenerational, multi-tenure and mixed-use schemes present a real opportunity to reconnect and integrate them with their wider communities and to create smart home or communication solutions that not only address their specific needs but make everyone’s life easier.
Your opportunity to tackle this global issue is at the RESI Hackathon on the 11-12 September in Wales! The hackathon is an official side event of the RESI Convention 2019.
Joining this year's hackathon as the project partner is Auriens, who are eager to find solutions that can socially engage the later living and bring people together from across all generations!
Auriens is raising the bar to create the ultimate hospitality experience, enabling residents to make the most of their later lives.
No detail is left unconsidered, from beautifully designed and thoughtful homes, to the finest healthcare, if or when the need arises.
Life at Auriens is not about slowing down, it is about picking up speed and embracing vitality in one’s vintage years. Here, residents can enjoy a wealth of amenities and services.
Develop next-generation tech solutions that benefit the later living community, as well as the wider community by using IoT, Machine Learning/Deep Learning, AI, and more.
POSSIBLE AREAS OF FOCUS INCLUDE:
Meeting place app encouraging intergenerational social gatherings such as coffee meetings, lunches or supper clubs
Smart home technology that facilitates an independent later living lifestyle or addresses specific later living needs
Social network that connects the later living community with the wider community or even family members living far away
An app that ensures later lifers will be continuously accompanied, reassured and monitored by their doctors efficiently and effectively, whether at home or on-the-go
App for intergenerational special interest groups such as book clubs, classic car enthusiasts or knitting fans
Service or support-oriented app that matches older members of the community who can offer, for example, babysitting, mentoring or tutoring services to younger members requiring those services
